I wish I could tell you the secrets to sleeping like a baby throughout your pregnancy. I’m pretty sure that’s impossible. Instead I have 3 tips to help you get a better nights sleep.
Lets face it…sleeping during pregnancy kind of sucks. You finally get comfortable and then you realize you have to pee again. The baby is kicking constantly. Your hormones are fluctuating like crazy. Your mind is racing thinking about everything you have to do before the baby arrives and the actual birthing part of this whole process. Here are 3 quick tips to make all of that a bit easier.
Your brain probably feels like it’s filled with a never-ending to-do list. You’re likely anxious + fearful about what lies ahead. Try to meditate for 10-20 minutes before bed to calm your mind. If that seems too difficult for you, remember that even 3 deep breaths can bring you stillness. I used Mama Natural affirmation cards and Headspace every night before bed.
2. Meal Plan
Once the nausea subsides, the acid reflux + heartburn usually begin. Instead of 3 meals a day, try 6 smaller ones. Avoid large meals before bed so you give your body time to digest.
Its extremely important to stay hydrated during pregnancy, but try to avoid liquids about 2-3 hours before bed. Do your best to hydrate throughout the day. Keep a water bottle with you all day to remind you or use an app to alert you and track your intake.
